GWK Cultural Park Creates Quality MICE Tourism and Local Cultural Wisdom

GWK Cultural Park Creates Quality MICE Tourism and Local Cultural Wisdom

September 23, 2024

MEDIA RELEASE Ungasan, September 10, 2024 – Bali is now recognized internationally as a MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) tourism haven, making it a prime destination for MICE tourism. Bali remains a top choice for incentive travel in Asia. However, achieving high-quality and highly competitive MICE tourism remains a challenge for policymakers. This topic, raised by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, held an interactive dialogue titled "MICE TO MEET YOU 2024: Bali – Where business meets paradise," in Bali on September 2, 2024, where GWK Cultural Park served as one of the speakers sharing their experiences in the MICE world. Welcoming 2025, Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park is fully prepared to provide a MICE venue on a national and international scale. Currently, with 37 international airlines flying to Bali, the opportunity for MICE tourism is wide open for Bali in general and GWK Cultural Park specifically. As stated by Rossie Andriani, Corporate Communications Division Head of PT. Alam Sutera Realty Tbk, "GWK Cultural Park, as Bali's number one tourism icon, strongly supports the government's program to promote Bali as a sustainable MICE destination. This includes organizing domestic and international events, as well as holding domestic and international exhibitions. We also collaborate with several partners, including travel agents, the Bali Regional Development Agency (BPPD), Angkasa Pura, and of course, the Bali Regional and Provincial Governments," Rossie explained. GWK Cultural Park is an iconic cultural landmark that is often chosen as a special event choice for many international MICE events. Since its inauguration in 2018 by President Jokowi, GWK Cultural Park has become a venue for state events involving countries around the world. Among them are the IMF in October 2018, the G20 Summit Gala Dinner in November 2022, and the Water World Forum Gala Dinner in May 2024. Meanwhile, other international events have been held at GWK Cultural Park, averaging 10-15 per year. GWK Cultural Park's advantage as a venue for MICE events lies in its unique landscape art, featuring limestone cliff pillars and magnificent sculptures, supported by state-of-the-art infrastructure. GWK Cultural Park offers a wide selection of venues, including Festival Park, located directly opposite the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue, offering iconic views. This venue can be transformed into a magnificent music concert venue. Furthermore, Lotus Pond, with the Garuda Statue as a backdrop, has been selected to host various exclusive events, including the G20 Summit Gala Dinner. Another iconic venue at GWK Cultural Park is Mandalaloka. With an area of over 1.4 hectares, it is ideal for music events. The New Year's Eve "Bali Countdown" event and the 2023 Djakarta Warehouse Project held at Mandalaloka went viral. In addition to outdoor venues, GWK Cultural Park offers a semi-indoor venue at Jendela Bali Restaurant. Its flexible setting and layout, complemented by a diverse food and beverage menu, make Jendela Bali Restaurant ideal for medium-scale events, such as group dinners, corporate gatherings, and private weddings. The Panoramic Sky Deck offers a romantic atmosphere with its iconic Balinese views. Another highlight of GWK Cultural Park is the Kecak dance performance, which has a unique story. The GWK Kecak tells the story of Garuda's adventures, becoming the vehicle of the god Vishnu. The Garuda Wisnu Kecak Dance is also the only Kecak dance to incorporate the ogoh-ogoh dance into the performance. This Kecak performance can also be an alternative entertainment for gatherings and corporate events. From the Kecak Dance performance venue, visitors can cross the Garuda Bridge, a bridge connecting the limestone cliffs of Plaza Garuda to the main structure, the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue. Its grandeur makes it the fourth tallest statue in the world and the first widest, thanks to its 64-meter wingspan. Entering the ground floor of the Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue, visitors will be treated to the unique Mini Ogoh-Ogoh Exhibition. Then, they can continue on the Top of the Statue Tour, ascending to the 9th and 23rd floors of the statue to explore the history of the statue, which has become an icon of Indonesian art, science, and technology. Thanks to its dedication, consistency, and strong commitment to being a leader in property and tourism development, on its 30th anniversary, PT. Alam Sutera Realty Tbk, through its subsidiary PT Garuda Adhimatra Indonesia, Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park Bali, won an award at the Jawa Pos 7 Most Popular Brand of the Year 2024 in the Tourism (Tourist Area) category. Throughout this long journey, PT Alam Sutera Realty Tbk, particularly GWK Cultural Park, has played a crucial role in the national tourism industry and as a global event destination. About Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park is a 60-hectare cultural park located in Ungasan, Badung Regency, approximately 10-15 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport. Since 2012, under the management of PT Alam Sutera Realty Tbk, GWK has undergone various facility renovations. Improvements to facilities and infrastructure in the main areas of GWK Cultural Park, such as Plaza Wisnu, Lotus Pond, Festival Park, Amphitheater, Indraloka Park, Tirta Agung, and others, have been undertaken to enhance visitor comfort. In 2018, the GWK statue, an icon of Indonesia, was inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Joko Widodo. The GWK Cultural Park area consists of several venues, including Plaza Wisnu, Lotus Pond, and Festival Park, which covers an area of up to 5,000 square meters and frequently hosts major national and international events. The amphitheater, which hosts arts and cultural performances, has a seating capacity of up to 500. As a 21st-century tourism destination, GWK is currently developing into a cultural park that presents a variety of events, including cultural performances, entertainment attractions, various sculptures, and unique limestone cliff landscape art. GWK also offers a culinary destination with the charm of Ungasan Hill at Jendela Bali and Beranda Resto. A variety of unique and attractive souvenirs are available at Kencana Souvenir.
