Joged Bumbung, the Enchanting Charm of Balinese Dance Culture at GWK Cultural Park
Joged Bumbung is a captivating form of Balinese cultural expression and a must-see attraction when visiting GWK Cultural Park. This Balinese dance performance not only offers graceful and captivating movements but also tells a story rich in Balinese cultural values. As the dancers' steps blend with the rhythm of traditional music, you'll experience the depth and beauty of authentic Balinese culture.

Joged Bumbung is thought to have originated in Buleleng and has existed since the 1940s. This Balinese dance began as entertainment for farmers while resting in their rice barns. Simple yet meaningful, this dance has since evolved into an integral part of Balinese life, spreading from village to village. This Balinese dance carries with it Balinese cultural stories passed down from generation to generation.

Its exclusivity grew when Joged Bumbung was brought into the Puri (Pri) complex and performed before Balinese kings, where the dancers were said to be court concubines. This Balinese dance is known as "Joged Pingitan" (Pingitan Dance) because some of its movements have special, hidden or forbidden meanings. Despite its evolution, this dance retains its rich Balinese cultural values, becoming a Balinese dance that entertains both locals and tourists.

The dancers dazzled in their beautiful traditional Balinese costumes. They wore kebayas adorned with scarves and kamen cloths wrapped around their hips and legs, creating an elegant look. Papusungans worn on their heads, glittering accessories, and feminine makeup further enhanced their charm. Props such as hand fans were also used to enhance the dance movements, adding to the allure and beauty of the performance.
At GWK Cultural Park, you can enjoy the Joged Bumbung performance every day at 5:00 PM WITA (Central Indonesian Time) at the Lotus Pond before the Kecak Dance performance begins. This Balinese dance performance provides a unique opportunity for visitors to experience the richness of Balinese culture in an authentic and captivating setting. Set against the backdrop of the captivating Garuda statue, this dance is an unforgettable experience for every visitor to GWK Cultural Park.
